Xiaofeng LIANG, chief physician, was transferred to China CDC in 2000 and served as the director of the National Immunization Program for 10 years, becoming Deputy Director of the China CDC in 2011. In 2019, he became Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (at the Director-General level). In May 2021, he was transferred to Jinan University as director of the Jinan University-BioKangtai Research Institute of Vaccine Industry. He is the first Chair Professor of Jinan University. He is currently a member of the WHO Technical Advisory Committee on Hepatitis (STAC), Vice-Chairman of the CAST UN Consultative Committee on Life Sciences and Human Health (CCLH), Executive Committee member of the World Public Health Alliance (WFPHA), Expert of the Scientific Committee of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), and a member of the National Expert Group on COVID-19, the NHC’s Committee on Measles Eradication, Committee on Polio Eradication, Expert Committee on Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, Standing Committee of the Chinese Medical Information and Big Data Association, and an associate editor-in-chief (English) of the Chinese Journal of Global Health. He has a long history of research in infectious disease prevention and control, and has achieved fruitful work and research results in vaccine immunization and vaccine-related disease control (GAVI project implementation for polio eradication, measles eradication, hepatitis B vaccine), influenza A control, Ebola control for Africa, tobacco control, chronic disease surveillance and control, and disease burden research.
